A southern right whale off Port Elliott, SA. Four southern right whales were tagged in June 2024 at Encounter Bay on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula as part of a Marine and Coastal project that is tracking southern right whale movement behaviours and locations, and the extent to which these areas overlap with vessel traffic. The tagging and tracking has given researchers a rare view of the whales’ migration pathways beyond this small coastal calving ground. Image: Flinders University
